The following is a list and description of this year's Children's Art Projects which will be a part of the United Parish Program Auction.
All children in each class participated in the creation of these fabulous "Works of Art".

RELIGIOUS ED, MRS. BARB SILPEK
ALTAR MOSAIC TRAY
This beautiful handcrafted "hope" tray features mosaic tiles depicting a rosary as well as a freehand replica of the breathtaking mosaic of Mary behind the QAS altar.
PRESCHOOL AM, SR. MARYLOU ANT PICNIC SERVING PLATTER It’s not a picnic without the ants but you'll welcome the adorable "fingerprint” versions that adorn this red and white checked rectangular platter. It is a summer serving must have!
PRESCHOOL PM, SR. MARY LOU ANGEL BOWL Your little angel will be floating on cloud nine when you bring home this adorable bowl featuring angels made from the student’s thumbprints.
JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN AM, SR. MARY LOU "WE ARE ALL FLOWERS IN GOD'S GARDEN" ORIGINAL ART This custom, totally unique piece of art features photos of the children in a blooming garden. Certain to become a cherished keepsake, this personalized 24 x 36 masterpiece is perfect for your little angel's bedroom.
JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN PM, SR. MARY LOU FRAMED SELF PORTRAIT POSTER “Look Mom, that’s me!” The 4 year old Junior Kindergarteners were busy creating self-portraits for this artsy black and white framed poster. The details are sure to make you smile and bring back memories down the road.
KINDERGARTEN (1/2 DAY), MRS. CAMPANINI "BEE" PITCHER This water pitcher is the bees' knees! The kindergarteners' tiny thumbprints become little bees on this original ceramic piece. Comes with a bee-themed picture frame with a photo of the class. Bring it home to your hive.
KINDERGARTEN FULL DAY, MRS. NIMEITZ, ROOM 2 ALPHABET PHOTO by KIDS PORTRAITS BY PICASSO A-B-C – it’s easy as 1-2-3! The kindergarteners created this beautiful collage posing as the letters of the alphabet.
KINDERGARTEN FULL DAY, MRS. O'BYRNE, ROOM K VAN GOGH INSPIRED SUNFLOWER PAINTING These enterprising kindergarteners created their textural and colorful version of van Gogh's famous sunflowers. To get inspiration, they listened to stories about both van Gogh and Gauguin and then let their creativity reign. Featuring a variety of textures, this is a masterpiece you’ll certainly want to add to your child’s gallery!
1ST GRADE, MRS. KEARNS, ROOM 15 PORTRAIT TILED MIRROR Mirror Mirror on the wall…who is the most creative class of all? Mrs. Kearns first graders created the tiles that frame the mirror in this lovely work of art.
1ST GRADE, MRS. KREJCZYK, ROOM 14 "MY PERFECT DAY AT QAS WOULD BE..." COFFEE TABLE BOOK Proudly display this coffee table book for years to come. The first graders’ were asked to write an essay about their perfect day at QAS and then provide the adorable illustrations. This professional bound book is waiting to adorn your coffee table or book shelf!
1ST GRADE, MRS. LINDGREN, ROOM 16 CERAMIC SERVING BOWL This “handy” serving bowl is a kitchen must have. Handcrafted by Mrs. Lindgren’s first graders, this adorable bowl is perfect for everything from pasta to popcorn!
2ND GRADE, MRS. ADAMCZYK, ROOM 10 PIZZA PARTY This Trompe L‘Oeil pizza platter and serving plates are painted to look just like the real thing – complete with your favorite toppings! The pepperoni, mushrooms, olives and green peppers toppings were “cooked up” by the creative hands of the second graders. As if that’s not enough, this one-of-a-kind collection are coupled with a gift certificate for a homemade pizza, a bottle of wine with glasses, a six pack of mini Coke glass bottles, and Blockbuster movie tickets. Now that is Sauganash style pizza!.
2ND GRADE, MRS. CARBONE, ROOM 9 HAND PAINTED CERAMIC FLOWER POTS & WATERING CAN How does your garden grow? Buy this flower pot and watering can set and you are sure to have a wonderful gardening season this year.
2ND GRADE, MRS. ERNST, ROOM 8 WOODEN BEAN BAG GAME No backyard BBQ or block party is complete without a bean bag game. Bring out this custom designed set which showcases the students’ handprints and let the games begin.
3RD GRADE, MRS. SAMARITANO, ROOM 12 "OUR FAVORITE SPOTS IN CHURCH COLLAGE" This lovely collage features pictures of each student’s favorite place in our beautiful Basilica. The students served as the photographers for this truly personal keepsake. The 20 x 24 collage offers a unique kid's-eye view of our place of worship.
3RD GRADE, MS. DUDA, ROOM 7 BUTTERFLIES IN FLIGHT The talented third graders created stencil illustrations of butterflies, dragonflies and moths that come together in a one-of-a-kind entomological work of art. Showcased in a distressed frame, this custom masterpiece will become a cherished conversation piece.
3RD GRADE, MS. GRYDER, ROOM 11 TILED DRY ERASE BOARD Get organized in your family room, home office or kitchen with this great dry erase board surrounded by ceramic tiles designed by our artistic third graders.
4TH GRADE, MRS. JANESKU, ROOM 6 THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE SERVING TRAY This handcrafted tile serving tray celebrates God’s creations, the beautiful things in life that are free! The students were asked to reflect on a moment in their life that was so awesome that it took their breath away. The catch, the memorable event had to be of something that didn’t cost any money. They turned the memory into a sketch and transferred it to the colorful ceramic tiles adorning this incredible tray.
4TH GRADE, MRS. SUERTH, ROOM 5 SENSES POEM BOOK The original poetry of Mrs. Suerth’s fourth graders will certainly enliven your senses. The creative poems are bound in an eye-catching, mixed media design that will become a one-of-a-kind treasured keepsake.
4TH GRADE, MRS. VORMITTAG, ROOM 4 DOGGONE SIGNATURE ART The students in Mrs. Vormittag’s pound used their signatures to create the image of a dog. Featuring a museum quality frame to ensure preservation of the artwork, you'll want to get your paws on this unique poster to hang in your kennel.
5TH GRADE, MRS. DIVANE, ROOM 202 FAMOUS FACES AND AUTOGRAPHS Chances are that someone from your class will be famous one day and you will have this lovely buffet/table runner keepsake to remember them by for years to come! Each student has drawn a self portrait representing their personality. They are drawn on fabric and colored in with permanent fabric markers with signatures. Their portraits are hand embroidered framed in black seam binding and machine quilted onto the table runner. The center of the runner is embroidered with: "2008 QAS 5th Grade Class of Mrs. Divane".
5TH GRADE, MS. SIPIORA, ROOM 203 CHRISTMAS TREE SKIRT Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree how you’ll love this tree skirt! Darling holiday-themed appliqués created by the students adorn this handmade treasure.
5TH GRADE, ROOM 204, MRS. PENKALA ETCHED GLASS DESSERT PLATES Everyone will be "dishing" about your dessert when it’s served on one of these beautiful etched glass plates. Custom designed by the chefs of room 204, the two sets of 12 plates include a variety of scrumptious designs.
6TH GRADE, MRS. DOWNS, ROOM 106 OUTDOOR MOSAIC GARDEN ART MIRRORS You’ll love the reflection of the great outdoors in these handcrafted mosaic mirrors. The set of two mirrors will add a bit of sparkle and shine to any garden.
6TH GRADE, MS. BYRON, ROOM 101 FALL LEAF MOSAIC TABLE This lovely wrought iron mosaic table was made with love by the capable and artistic hands of Ms. Byron’s sixth graders. The leaf imprint center is surrounded by colorful mosaic chips. The budding artists signed the bottom of this one-of-a-kind creation that is sure to add a bit of style to any room.
6TH GRADE, MS. O'SHEA, ROOM 206 QAS THEMED BEAN BAG GAME Be the hit of your next backyard BBQ or block party with this cleverly-designed QAS bean bag game. No detail was spared...the hole is fashioned out of a "Q" and it features multiple cup holders as well as sturdy, handmade QAS embroidered bags.
7TH GRADE,MRS. HERR, MRS. PIGGOTT, MRS. GORGIUS COFFEE TABLE BOOK Catch a glimpse of our seventh graders' imaginative minds by picking up your copy of their Memory Book. Our children had free, poetic license to describe what they considered to be a favorite memory; it could have been the best, scariest, funniest, or life changing moment! The book can be a cherished memento for you, your child, grandparents, and godparents.
8TH GRADE, MS. ROYCE, MRS. LAWLER, MRS. JAWORSKI CLASS PHOTOGRAPH A beautiful Eighth Grade Class Photo. Just think of how cherished this will be once this great class scatters to high schools all over Chicagoland.
